Tsuchinoko - ツチノコ
•About this UMA/Yokai:
A popular cryptid from japan, The Tsuchinoko is a Plump snake that looks a bit like it was squashed flat down the middle. Unlike a normal snake, it has eyelids and makes a sound similar to a bull frog. - Despite Its girth, It's actually quite acrobatic & It is very good at jumping! - Tsuchinoko have been said to be very nimble and are able to jump up to 2m In length, followed by A gravity-defying Double Jump! - it's also known for rolling around, sometimes biting onto its tail and rolls around like a wheel.
Apparently the creature is quite venomous in that it is both poisonous and has a bad attitude, the Tsuchinoko is occasionally to said speak, it's quite rude when it does.
Tsuchinoko encounters have been referenced in some of the oldest history books about Japan, It has been suggested that they are perhaps related to or where named after Yokai known as Nozuchi.
Some places will pay good money (up to 100 million yen) for photographic evidence or a body of a real Tsuchinoko. There are also annual tsuchinoko hunts held across the country which became popular in the 1970s.
[Yokotsuchi - Old straw/cloth mallets, supposedly the inspiration for this yokai.]
