Tenome – [yokai] – Said to be the spirit of a Zato (Blind Musician) who was robbed & murdered in a field. His grudge transformed him into a yokai with eyes in the palms of his hands. Yoro-no-gakuya – [Yokai|Tsukumogami] – Bunraku puppets used in Kanadehon Chushingura (47 Ronin) it’s said that every night past 3:AM the dressing room would come to life & they’d battle it out just like in the play. ..So, I went a bit crazy with new sushi stickers 🍣 https://samkalensky.com/product-category/foodlore/sushi/ I now have 48 designs (up from 6) I’d been drawing these quietly daily for about a month or two? As usual each has a sizable blurb In the description going into the folklore behind the relative fish. These bios are a bit shorter than usual (bitesized) but I spent a good amount of time researching folklore & fish facts related to each, watching videos about how sushi is made/learning about fish etc! It was fun✌️🍣 I’m planning on releasing a “Foodlore zine” eventually too, maybe one for each type i’ve got listed.
