Amabiko Nyuudo (JP: 尼彦入道 Amabiko Irino)

An Aggressive Amabiko appears! - This one was encountered one night at Irino beach, in Hyūga (Miyazaki Prefecture) sometime in 1876. (or 1882 conflicting sources.) - The creature had “3 pairs of 3 legs” [total count of x9!] and a golden feathery (or scaly?) body topped with the bald head of a monk: This bird man appeared from the sea before a samurai known as “Shibata” and told the same prophecy to what Amabiko told:

“From this day forward, plentiful harvest will continue for six years, but awful diseases & colds will also spread! Unless you keep a picture of my image and worship it every morning and evening!!! You will be spared from disease and misfortune will leave!"

the creature then disappeared back into the tides...

—Again this one gave the exact same prediction as what the monkey like Amabiko gave, but coming from him ...it feels a bit more threatening.. almost like “worship me or else!!” - His appearance/name brings to mind Mikoshi Nyuudo (and other Onyudo: Youkai priests or monks that are usually bad guys and will try to eat ya.) – Though i suppose looks can be deceiving: It seems that just like amabie and the others, he only wants to help... (I guess that all prophetic beasts just can’t be as cute as the Amabie.)

Because he has 9 legs rather than just 3, he’s pretty unique from the other ones: ((I’d assume the extra legs where for emphasis. (3 is a number representing vices in Buddhism, x3 sets of 3 legs might mean hes pretty bad?)) - Hes usually called “Amabiko Nyuudo” as said his head is bald like a monks: but I’ve also seen him nick named “Amabie Irido” as well (presumably named after the beach he appeared on!) - The area which it appeared is known as Irino beach: a stunningly beautiful surfing location: Unfortunately, its also noted for shark attacks. - [Perhaps also explaining the almost aggressive nature of this yokai? - Kids, Be careful near the beach at night!! there’s a strange monk with sharp teeth who will appear and lecture you!!]
