Description
Rengidori – “れんぎどり(擂木鳥)” – [Yokai|Tsukumogami]
•About this Yokai: A Tsukumogami (Haunted Antique) of an old Wooden Pestle, which has been freed from its Mortar! it Soars away with wings! [Most commonly are bird wings: but occasionally an insect or Bats!]
•. History: it commonly appears in Mid-Edo period board & card games. – its full story seems to be lost to time but it seems to be based on a popular old saying: “擂木が鳥になる” or “A Pestle becomes a Bird.” – In short: “The pestle has left the building” or gotton lost. – Aside from that, I’ve read somewhere that they’re made specifically made of camellia wood.

[rengidori in an early picture game.]
