Ishigani - いしがに - Stone Crab - Ino Mononoke Roku. [Day 5] yokai sticker

Ishigani "Rock Crab." (jp:いしがに) • Type: Yokai, 漬物石 Pickling stone, Tsukumogami* • Related Yokai: N/A • Date of appearance: 5th Day, in the Afternoon. • Description: A pickling stone which came alive and caused a ruckus. Gonpachi wanted to defeat it, but Heitaro just sat calmly and paid it no mind..

[Ino Mononoke roku - Day 5/30]

In the story: while Heitaro & Gonpachi are discussing the odd circumstances they've found themselves in over the last few days, a rock suddenly rolled inside from off the porch and begins to scuttle around the room like a crab on human fingers, it doesn't do anything necessarily threatening... But Gonpachi panicked and attempted to defeat the thing.. since its made of stone, his sword didnt do much of anything. Heitaro is calm as usual and doesn't react to it at all (but maybe has a silent chuckle at his friends expense.) - There are some telling's that treat it a bit more like a literal crab & some that exaggerate it as a Finger/Eyeball monster, and some-that lean more heavily on the rock aspect..

"稲生物怪録" or "Ino Mononoke Roku" is a (supposedly, true?) story which takes place in Miyoshi, Hiroshima, during July of 1749 – in which 16 year old "Ino Heitaro" (& his friend Gonpachi) decide to play "Hyakumonogatari"  (a game which involves telling 100 ghost stories.) as a test of courage to see which of them is the bravest! Soon after the two are visited by various ghosts, yokai and other supernatural phenomena, day & night for an entire 30 days!!! – [You can watch a telling of it here (with english subtitles)] – I'm going to try & gradually complete a yokai sticker for each day! – (Please note: I will be posting about them out of order & at my own pace.)
