Kibuna - 黄ぶな - [yokai | Folktoy]
•About this Yokai:
Legend has it: during the Edo period smallpox epidemics, An abnormally large, magical Yellow Crucian Carp was caught in the centre of Tagawa River in Utsunomiya, Tochigi prefecture. When it was fed to those that were sick, they were immediately cured!!!
While the internet famous 'Amabie' is the mascot yokai for Pandemic respondents in most other places, Kibuna has regained popularity locally in Utsunomiya where around New Years its sold as traditional paper mache lucky charms & treats too. - Even local shrines have taken part, making pictures of the fish & charms available as a plague warding charm.
"Kibuna Day" is also September 27th (because kibuna sounds like the numbers "9/27") its become a day to express gratitude to medical professionals!
In these times you can never have too many virus warding yokai!!
