Kowai - JP: 狐者異

•About this yokai: A dishevelled ghostly man who’s constantly starving, it eats whatever it can get its hands on, it haunts the outside of restaurants. - According to ‘Ehon Hyakku Monogatari’ [1841] This yokai's name is also the origin of the word ‘kowai’ [怖い] meaning “scary!”

The literal translation of his name is a bit closer to "strange fox person" so i guess that's why he has the strange ears, fangs & behaves like a hungry hungry hobo. rumor says. that supposedly he represented a greedy person who ate more than he needed in life and that he would even steal from others plates while they where eating!! He was so disliked that his spirit lingered continuing his bad behaviour. - in the original, hes about to destroy a travelling udon kart: I decided the sticker worked better if i just drew him eating already been chewed udon. yum yum!
