Ittan Momen (JP: 一反木綿)

• About this Yokai: a dangerous Tsukumogami (Haunted Antique) bolt of thin, unused white cotton cloth that's 1 tan in length (about 10.6 meters in length by 30 centimetres in width) – it's really long. – It slithers through the air like a serpent at twilight, it strangles and suffocates unsuspecting people to death, scary! - Though, If you're a friend to yokai, perhaps it will give you a ride instead.

• History: Yokai similar to Ittanmomen (in that they're bolts of white cloth (see last image.) appear in some of the earliest Hyakki yagyo picture scrolls. -

cloth yokai - edo period

There are also a few modern urban legends from Kagoshima prefecture having to do with sightings of cloth-shaped, unidentified flying objects. (i can name more than a few cryptids & aliens that resemble this too) - The yokai's modern 'bolt of cloth'-like appearance is largely thanks to Shigeru Mizuki's kitaro where it appears as a regular cast member.
