Shinshaku – 心積 – “Heart infection” 

• About this Yokai: Despite the name, it Lives in the belly area: Those who are infected develop a fondness for burnt smells & bitter flavors: they also start chuckling even if nothings funny.. They soon become weak & distant.

• Cure: This one has no listed cure, Many of these where treated with secret acupuncture techniques which the book mentions as “too complicated“ as such it was only taught orally.

• History: One of 63 ‘KanNoMushi’ 疳の虫 (germ/parasitic Yokai) from the “Harikikigaki” 針聞書 or “the book of needles” – a tome about acupuncture & medical knowledge written in 1568 by a resident of Ibaraki City, Osaka Prefecture, Japan.
