Flambeau Ambler – [Fearsome Critter] - (Latin: Piscis carniversa) -
• About this Critter: Shades of the "All Blue!!", The Flambeau Ambler was a fish from Wisconsin (Flambeau river) & Maine area folklore (Penobscot river) it was said to have the potential to taste like any meat you might have liked when cooked. When fried over wood or gas range stove, it tasted like gourmet southern fried chicken, when boiled in clear lake water it tasted like lobster; roaster over a campfire it tasted succulent pig, if it was broiled, people swore they where eating prime t-bone steak. Unfortunately the fish attracted greedy frying-pan fishermen who measure the joy of fishing with how many they can bring to the pan. The creature was son over fished using extreme methods such as TNT, soon it went extinct in the area...
One person who remembered the taste of the fish was retired attorney Clyde Wynia from Marshfeild Wisconsin.
• History: According to the entry in Walker d Wymans mythical creatures of USA and Canada [1978] the fish could also walk on land.
I'd suppose more properly the fish looked like a regular fish* (mines exaggerated to get your attention, if you're reading this then it worked!)
