Collection: Yūrei (ghosts)
Yūrei (JP:幽霊) are defined as 'the faint spirits of humans' -generally thought to be spirits of those barred from a peaceful afterlife. There are many many different kinds: often they are accompanied by Hitodama (ghost lights) depicted in a white burial kimono (often wearing a tenkan on their heads) they are typically depicted without legs. - For clarity: i've also included some yokai who might be considered 'spirits' or 'ghost-leaning' in this section as well: however, the traditional prerequisite for yurei is that they where 'once human.' - many of these are “Onryo” (vengeful spirits) too.
Below are hand-made stickers, each with a biography explaining the history & lore behind each creature, as lovingly researched; illustrated, designed & re-imagined by @ Sam Kalensky! Please check out my full yokai section, and support my work for even more!
