• About this Cryptid: The concept of flying felines or 'winged cats' has been Popular from ancient times (Mythical creatures such as the sphinx etc.) through newspaper articles in the 1800s, to anthropomorphic artwork & pop culture characters to this very day! - During the mid-1800s to early-1900s, photos of 'winged cats' where quite popularly published in newspapers, of course, this caught many curious cryptozoologists attention as well.

shocked onlookers thought that they where the results of horrible Lab experiments, crossbreeding, whilst others believed that they where some sort of 'divine intervention.' (literally angel cats.) ...however, the truth was far more medical than magical.

• History: For this entry I'm keeping it short and will simply to link to Sarah Hartwell. (a veteranarian whos website messybeast has done the most thorough job to give a full explanation surrounding the history, myths & 3 most common medical causes behind this phenomena.) - The tl;dr explanation for those who cannot commit the time: Sarah goes on to explain that The vast majority of winged cats are the result of poor grooming where most often caused by heavily matted fur, sometimes a case of conjoined twins, but more frequently, they where cases of "Feline Cutaneous Asthenia." (FCA) causing fragile &/or elastic skin. (Incidentally This also is a similar cause to why cats can sometimes also appear to have two tails.)

...Although medical science can easily debunk these winged cats, I would like to point out that the idea of 'odd cats' being the results of lab experiments, should not be entirely thrown out of the window.
