Baku - 獏

A mythical chimera said to be made of the leftover parts of other animals. Considered auspicious, Baku have been used as good luck charms for centuries. Particularly used for warding nightmares & evil.

Baku are also said to eat human dreams,  especially nightmares, if you place a picture of it under your pillow and say to yourself “Baku come eat my dreams!” However, care must be taken, not to do this too often, as it’s said that if the baku remains hungry, it may also eat your hopes and aspirations… Evil spirits & yokai are terrified of Baku so it’s said that good fortune follows them wherever they might be.

Sticker Art by @Samkalensky (yo thats me!) - Part of my Night parade of 100 Demons - Yokai & Japanese folklore sticker collection, weather-resistant 6" Glossy sticker. Check my shop & follow @samkalensky for many more! - My design was inspired by the brilliant sculptures of Baku at Konno hachimagu shrine.

Did you know? – The colour magenta technically doesn’t exist? – Its an impossible colour and your brain is filling in a blank space on the colour spectrum. (Hence why i chose it to represent his "dream flames")
