The Elusive Popcornfish - [Fearsome Critter Cryptid 1953]
Discovered by 2 UBC Scientists, An odd fish that had 'popcorn-like bumps' on its head, unfortunately, their chef cooked it before it could be photographed - A Small lake (North of White Horse) was named after it!
Articles about the fish where published in the UBC news & Vancouver sun in the 1980's

• Vancouver sun: https://www.newspapers.com/image/493271268/?terms=Popcornfish&match=1

• UBC Archive: https://open.library.ubc.ca/viewer/ubcreports/1.0117984#p1z1r0f:popcornfish

This one was requested by "Kevin S" of the Canadian Fearsome Critter Society - I was thrilled to hear that there was a cryptid/critter discovered by local UBC scientists, I say 'critter' because of how the article ended (felt a bit tongue in cheek..) but it is a lot closer to a cryptid because of the “it might exist” factor. - I'm not sure if professor Lindsay would be retired by now or not (or if either of them are still around but if they are I'd love to set up an interview sometime!)
